I sold my HTC Diamond here: http://www.mobilephonexchange.co.uk/ for about £80 - that made the experience slightly less painful over all!

I spent ages investigating and I went for the hype! This phone is the most unfriendly phone I have EVER HAD - I HATE IT and cant wait to put it on EBAY to get rid of it - Try to get a number up to call - the slightest pressure and you will call people while just scrolling - Bring it out in a business meeting and I guarantee you will look a prat! - Try and delete a contact - no forget it - Just how much are they paying people to say nice things about it - wish I had gone for the iPhone which is a peach to use.

@ John. I agree with what you say. However - I've been playing (for a few weeks now) with the HTC Magic and it's great. Obviously the software is different - but the build quality is good. So - it seems that my pain really is down to Microsoft!

This is COMPLETELY AGREED. First, I saw this phone on web, then I fell in love, then I was madly searching for it. Then I ordered on online store, and the waiting time for the phone was enough just to make me go rampage cursing all the transportation and post offices across 3 countries.

After 6 months... I really do wonder, why was I so hyped up that much? where's all the reward for my eagerness and dedication?

The phone is literally a trash. Good thing? maybe it's high-resolution screen.
Everything on this entry is just perfectly true: It's DAMNED SLOW, it just RESISTS to respond to your commands, the system just hangs, when someone calls you, if you press the answer button, it actually hangs up!!! The touchscreen quite often goes rampage without no reason for few days, and now mine doesnt even work anymore, so I need to replace it's screen or touchscreen glass lens or something.
The scroll sensing is just a troll; you want to scroll down something but it "taps".

And this is AFTER I did a FULL MONTH research on XDA developers, downloaded many many ROMs for it, many applications/tune ups, registry edits, and all. Think I didn't try my best enough? tell me how you did it, because if one of you succeeded, must be black magic.

A total betrayal from HTC. I just hate the phone AND the company.

I have never ever been so unhappy and angry with a phone as I am with the HTC Touch Diamond. I HATE IT. It embarrasses me to do business calls using that phone - the number of problems it has caused me. Surely HTC must be worried a bout WORD of MOUTH. I have met many people with this phone and NOT ONE PERSON I have met is happy with it. What's the point of looking sleek and coming in a great box?

Using the links below I'm slowly customising my HTC Diamond:
http://www.softwarearea.info/advanced-configuration-tool-v33-3.htm
http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/index.php/2008/06/15/htc_touch_diamond_tweaks

Everything from installing software to using that software to edit memory allocation and application behaviour.

But I still maintain - why do I have to do this just to get my mobile phone to work in a standard way.

Okay - on a mission to improve my HTC Diamond.

As the auto lock (or screen lock) shipped with the device is awful I had to find a solution. And here it is:
http://www.pocketshield.net/Default.htm

You have to pay for PocketSheild ($12.90) but can play with it for a trial period. I've been playing with it for about an hour and it really is fantastic.

i get the strange feeling that you may have very large fingers, and im not having a go mind. i work for telstra australia and have a touch pro + 3 of my friends have touch diamonds and dont get me wrong they are great phones (sounds like you could also do with a firmware update)but the screens are to small and the resolution to high to use for some people, i guess it comes down to proper research before buying.
