Open Office exports to Google Docs
I’ve just downloaded and installed Open Office 2.3. The main reason I did this? So that I could use it to save my documents in Google Docs.
Using an extension called OpenOffice.org2GoogleDocs, much the same way that Firefox uses extensions, I am now able to create a document locally on my PC and then easily save it to my Google Docs folder.
However, when I actually tried to save my document to Google Docs I ran into an error (I’m working on Windows XP):
Problem: no object DCH for MIME type application/atom+XML
I’ll do some research now and see what I can find out. Will keep you posted.

On project page http://ooo2gd.googlecode.com is available newest version [for now it’s 0.4.1], and this version works with 2.3 without described problem.

Great! I’ve just installed it and tested. It works. Thanks RMK for pointing this out.

Doesn’t google docs just let you upload your documents to their website? Why would you need a local side program to convert them?

It’s handy to have access to an app which creates documents if you’re not online for what ever reason - then when you are online just to simply upload them.
This is what I’ll continue to do untill Google Gears allows me to use their doc engine offline.
